Aan orde komt hoe bestaande Visual Basic applications naar het .NET platform kunnen worden gemigreerd en hoe bestaande COM componenten kunnen samenwerken met componenten die speciaal voor het .NET platform zijn geschreven. De nadruk wordt gelegd op applicatie architectuur, upgrading waar dat van toepassing is en interoperation. Aandacht is er ook voor het gebruik van unmanaged DLL’s functies vanuit een .NET applicatie en de ontwikkeling, test en installatie van .NET componenten die samenwerken met COM applicaties.
